Arthas always been part of my life, although my formal studies came later.
Early on I studied at the University of Vermont earning my BS. I lived and studied for several years in Oslo, Norway to learn the language and culture.
Afterthis I decided to travel and experience as much of the world as I could. To absorb different cultures and languages.
Iworked onboard a ship, traveled the world, and continued my adventures in Norway, Germany, and the Islands of St. John, and Grand Cayman in the Caribbean.
Aftermy travels I returned to school to study fine art and graphic design.
Duringthese years I always carried a camera, learned mostly about black and white film and spent hours in the darkroom.
Whendigital became a part of the universe I learned that I could combine my passion for photography with my love for painting.
The two became a part of my vocabulary and I haven’t look back.
Imix all the skills I have painting, printmaking, drawing and photography to organize this chaos on a single panel.
Mixed Media is my medium and my work is contemporary.
Most of the photos I shoot myself and often mix with vintage images to create a sense of familiarity and Universal in the particular.
The vision for my art arrives from my life experiences, my love for learning and need for adventure and a true respect for my own culture.
Thephrase from Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz “There is no place like home” hits me in my soul. She was right, traveling has taught me that.
So myfocus has become Americana, all its Iconic images past and present. I am still traveling mostly in the US and find places that seem to have stood still in time, so pure.
One of these images can bring us to different places and back in a glance and create that feeling of comfort, mystery and pride. I hold these images close to my heart.
